About Dr. Marcella Bakur Weiner

A Fellow of the American Psychological Assn. (APA), she is currently an adjunct psychology professor at Marymount Manhattan college and president of the Mapleton-Midwood/Southbeach psychiatric community mental health center. Dr. Weiner earned her doctorate at Columbia University, soon becoming faculty as adjunct associate professor. She has also taught as adjunct at Yeshiva University, Brooklyn College and City College of CUNY, and Fordham University. As former Senior Research Scientist for the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene, she has authored or co-authored seventy-five articles, some of them used as standardized texts by the U.S. government. As senior faculty for the International Association for Human Relations Training , Dr. Weiner has conducted groups in the U.S. and abroad in such countries as Denmark, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Japan, Morocco, Norway, Panama, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, and others. An active member of the American Psychological Association’s media division, she is frequently quoted in magazines and newspapers including Bride, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Glamour, More, the New York Post, the New York Times, U.S. Weekly, and U.S. News and World Report. Her appearances on TV include: ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC. Radio shows include CBS News, Bob Grant (WABC), Joan Hamburg (WOR), Armand DiMele (WBAI), and the Joey Reynolds show (WOR). Dr. Weiner was co-host (with Dr. Bernard Starr) of the radio talk show, “Choices” (WEVD). She and her family live in the New York City area.
